CAG Facilitates ASEAN Workshop to Co-create a Regional Framework for High Performance
Regional Exchange and Co-creation
A defining feature of the workshop was its strong emphasis on regional exchange and peer learning. Country representatives were invited to share how their respective nations currently measure public sector performance, how these measures are applied, the desired outcomes they seek to achieve, and challenges encountered in implementation. This generated a rich exchange of practical insights across member states, whose vastly different national contexts lent depth and diversity to discussions.
The hands-on design of the workshop ensured that all country representatives had an equal opportunity to contribute as groups worked collaboratively through defining the purpose, desired outcomes, and key features of the ASEAN framework. To ensure that discussions remained grounded in practical realities, participants were also asked to consider the implementation dimensions of the framework, with room provided for countries to develop indicators tailored to their specific national contexts.
While a three-day workshop cannot encompass the full scope of framework development, it served as a valuable first step in generating ideas and initiating a broader discourse on how governments across the region can meaningfully measure public sector productivity. CAG looks forward to continuing its support of ASEAN's efforts to build more high-performing, effective, and trusted governments across the region.
